NERC - Recognising & Responding to Coercive Control in therapeutic settings
Presenters Bio:
Ann Larkin began working with Women’s Aid Dundalk as a support worker in 2005 and from there she went on to serve as a Board member and held the role of Chairperson for nine years. Ann was appointed as Services Manager in 2017. Women’s Aid Dundalk provides a range of pre-crisis, crisis and post crisis services for women and children experiencing domestic abuse/coercive control. Ann holds a BA in Business (Management Studies), and a Higher National Diploma in Community Development.
Workshop Outline:
The training will be delivered in one 4-hour workshop, with a 30 minute break after two hours.
Part one will focus on introducing Coercive Control.
Part two will focus on applying the learning to your work setting, creating an environment for disclosure, and building capacity to respond and refer as appropriate.
Learning Objectives: To increase knowledge and understanding ofincrease capacity in responding; To increase capacity to recognise Coercive Control; To increase knowledge and understanding of the impact of Coercive Control; To increase capacity in responding.
