A key element for the working group involved in these ‘Race for Mental Health’ events within an Irish perspective and locale is our own 'beginnings' with all of this. We recognise in ourselves as a group, alongside groups within both the IACP and the PSI, that we are all beginning something, approaching something, and invested in creating space to ask something around race and mental health in Ireland, rather than answering it. There is a certain humility in this wanting for processing and processes and our aim for these days is to open spaces and potentials to listen to each other, heed participants across each day, to see/value what is happening now, and therefore consider and begin to explore what might come next. We are meeting and working together these days because race matters, because mental health matters and we all are open to sharing in the inexperience of wanting to experience more/differently/better.
