Presenter Bio:
Kathryn is a voluntary co-ordinator of First Personal Plural.
Melanie is the trustee chair and a trainer for First Person Plural. Founded in 1997 First Person Plural is one of the longest established UK organisations working specifically for and on behalf of people affected by complex dissociative identity disorders, i.e. Dissociative Identity Disorder – also known as Multiple Personality Disorder (DID/MPD), and DID-like Dissociative Disorder Not Otherwise Specified – now renamed Other Specified Dissociative Disorder (DDNOS/OSDD).
Workshop Outline:
To raise awareness of dissociation and its role in surviving abuse or trauma.
To introduce the dissociation continuum and the spectrum of dissociative disorders, including dissociative identity disorder (DID)
To understand the reality of living with dissociative identity disorder
To explore practical ways of supporting people who experience complex dissociation.
To improve understanding of the complexity and contradictions in how DID clients present
To provide complex dissociation-specific information and practical suggestions which support participants existing professional knowledge and training
CPD certificates will be emailed to participants after attendance at the workshop
