Complicated Grief

Presenters Bio: Susan Delaney, Clinical Psychologiest, is the Bereavement Services Manager in the Irish Hospice Foundation and manages the Complicated Grief Programme there. She is a member of the internation Train-the-Trainers group wtih Prof. Kathy Shear at Columbia University.

Workshop Outline: This workshop will provide participants with a strong grounding in Complicated Grief (CG). CG is a largely misunderstood disorder which affects about 10% of bereaved people. It is characterised by serious impairment in functioning and an inability to engage satisfactorily wtih everyday like. A growing body of evidence indicates that CG does not respond well to traditional supportive counselling and newly developed protocols, such as Shear's CGT, are showing improved outcomes for this population.

Training Level: All

CPD certificates will be emailed to participants after attendance at the Workshop.
