Present a workshop entitled:

Working with clients with Aspergers/Autism spectrum.

Presenter: Tom Ryan is a psychotherapist in Cork city. He works for Aspect, a service that supports adults with A.S. Tom also has a private practise. He has a particular interest in psychoanalysis and is a member of ICLO, the Irish Circle of the Lacanian Orientation.

Workshop Outline: As more and more people are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (A.S) and, in various ways, are identifying the signifiers such as Aspergers, services are struggling to respond in meaningful ways across the various stages of the lifespan. This workshop will address the ways in which traditional models of counseling can offer a welcome to the client with A.S. and also how these models are in turn challenged by some of the specific difficulties of Autism. On the day we will look at autism asa developmental diagnosis and also as a subjective position from which the client meets the counsellor. Case illustrations will be presented and the workshop will be interactive allowing time for both theoretical and clinical questions.

CPD certificates will be emailed to participants after attendance at the Workshop.
