Presenter: Dr. Una McCluskey Dhil,Part time Senior Research Fellow at the University of York and freelance Attachment Consultant. Author of To be Met as a Person: the Dynamics of Attachment in Professional Encounters. Karnac London, co-author of The Psychodynamics of abuse: the cost of fear, Jessica Kingsley, and joint author with Dr. Dorothy Head and Dr. Brian Lake of Attachment Therapy with Adolescents and Adults: theory and practice post Bowlby 2009. Presented with the Award for Vision, Innovation, Dedication and Achievement (VIDA) in 2004 by the Group Psychotherapy Association of Southern California in appreciation of her contribution to the field of psychotherapy. 

 

Workshop Outline:This workshop will explore the developments made by Dorothy Heard and Brian Lake to the work of John Bowlby. Participants will hear about a Restorative Process that becomes activated once a threat to wellbeing has been experienced by an individual. This Restorative Process consists of the interaction of 7 independent biologically-based goal-corrected systems. Participants will also be introduced to the practice developed by Una McCluskey which she has called Exploratory Goal-Corrected Psychotherapy (EGCP). Assessment tools will be provided during the day and will be used in the afternoon during the application to practice session.
