Presenter Bio
:  Joe Heffernan is a fuly accredited Counsellor. He is a graduate of UCC (BA in 1969 and Masters 1992 and H.Dip in 1998) He is accreated with IACP and ACI. And accreated Supervisior. He is former director and former treasure of IACP. He is a member of the Health in Practice Network of the Irish College of General Practitioners. He is an accredited instructor of ICISF (International Critical Incident Stress Foundation) University of Maryland USA in both Indivual Crisis Intervention and Group Crisis Intervention.Joe works in private practice and gives CISm and gives talks to different organisations /groups. He also worked as student counsellor in UCC for Seven Years. 

Outline: What is Trauma,? What is Critical Incident? What is a psycholical Crisis? What is the connection between a "Critical Incident" and a Psychological Crisis?" Typical Symptons of Trauma cognitive, Emotional and Behavioural; Types of stress including Post Traumatic stress;Antidotes for Psychological Crisis; Three reactions to a Critical Incident; Avoidance, Intrusion, Hyper-Vigilance; Providing structure for Chaos; suggestions for Clients (Handouts); Suggestions for Family and Friends of the client who is recovering (Handouts).
