Present a workshop entitled:

\"Reconnecting Sexual Intimacy\"

Presenter Bio:
Fiona Daly is a Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapist and certified Couples Counsellor, holding an Honours BA in Psychotherapy and Counselling. Fiona has spent the last eleven years in an in depth exploration of human sexuality and relating through Tantric practice. As well as many personal development workshops she has successfully completed teacher trainings with two of the top international Tantra schools, the Chandra Bindu Tantra Institute in California and The School of Awakening in the UK and has been teaching Tantra since 2004.

Workshop Outline: This one day workshop is designed to give therapists working with couples some techniques drawn from contemporary Tantric practices that help re-ignite sexual intimacy. The techniques are practical and gentle and are placed in context for the therapist so it is possible to sense in a therapy when they would be appropriate. The workshop alternates between Powerpoint Presentations and Experiential Exercises. Starting with an ice-breaker exercise we are immediately experiencing the realm of relating. I present a brief history of Tantric practice and why it is suitable for contemporary life, followed by an exercise that illustrates some of the concepts. Each exercise is contextualized in a way that is useful for practicing therapists. I reference Maslow, Reich and Lowen and have a particular emphasis on Attachment Theory, I also reference contemporary relationship theorists, Sue Johnson & Ester Perel. We look at the pharmacology of attachment and intimacy and how certain actions can generate the flow on bonding hormones. With a strong emphasis on boundaries and safety I facilitate participants to experience the techniques so there is a felt sense of the effects they will have on their clients. Although the techniques pertain to sexual intimacy its important to point out that they do not involve nudity or intimate touch (either in this workshop or with clients).
