Presenter's Bio:

Anne Dodd BA, MEd., MSc., PhD. is a Psychotherapist working in private practice, accredited by the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and an Adjunct Assistant Professor at the School of Psychology, University College Dublin. Grief and the grieving process is her principal area of clinical interest and research. Her research has appeared in various journals such as Death Studies, Journal of Affective Disorders, Counselling Psychology Quarterly, Patient Education and Counselling and the Journal of Loss and Trauma.


Event Outline:

The workshop will cover contemporary models and theories of grief and distinguish between acute, integrated and prolonged grief. It will identify the risk factors, and the protective factors involved in a complicated grieving process and will outline ways of working with prolonged grief in order to facilitate grief integration. Various assessment tools to aid the identification of complications in the grieving process will be introduced.
