In Person Event - WRC - Prolonged Grief Disorder/Complicated Grief

Presenter's Bio:

Catherine Tierney is an IACP-accredited psychotherapist with almost 20 years’ experience in clinical practice. She has worked as an EAP affiliate for many years. She develops and delivers workshops and clinical training on grief and loss for Irish Hospice Foundation (IHF) and manages their freephone Bereavement Support Line (1800 80 70 77) which offers nationwide support to anyone who is bereaved.

Event Outline:

It is estimated Prolonged/Complicated Grief effects up to 10% of bereaved people. It is characterised by serious impairment in functioning and an inability to engage satisfactorily with everyday life. It does not respond well to traditional therapy methods and new protocols are being developed to treat it.

This workshop is aimed at therapists who provide counselling services to bereaved clients. It will clarify why grief becomes stuck, what can help, what can hinder, and it will identify some strategies to facilitate grief integration.

CPD Certs will be emailed to participants after attendance at the Event.
